After a few months of preparation it was finally time to head on down to Linköping and this year's Lincon gaming convention. So Jesper, Micke and I packed the car with our Great Northern War participation game in 28mm, based on a scenario of the Battle of Holowczyn 1708.
For this GNW collection and the Lincon convention in particular, our club LittleWars have teamed up with Warfare Miniatures, in an attempt to promote this key period in Northern European history along with Warfare's recently launched excellent 28mm range for the "Karoliner" period.
Large portions of our GNW collection is based on Warfare Miniatures, and I recommend anyone interested in this period to check them out, if you're not already familiar with the quality of this brand.
Here follows a gallery of two great days in Linköping:
We had two great days at Lincon!
Met a lot of nice people eager to talk history, miniatures and of course roll some dice.
A very big THANK YOU to all who dropped by our table and supported the range!
Great looking table and miniatures. Glad to hear you all had a good couple of days gaming:).
ReplyDeleteThanks Steve - yeah, it was very rewarding to play through the participation games and talking history and miniatures hobby with like-minded enthusiasts!
DeleteThat is one great looking table.
ReplyDeleteThanks Joakim, I'll be needing your advise on GothCon as I'm actually thinking about going there with a game next year!
DeleteI can think of no better endorsement for Warfare Miniatures than to have your group's expertly painted Warfare Miniatures set out for a display game.
ReplyDeleteTerrific looking game!
Thank you very much for those kind words Jonathan, I'm hoping Barry from Warfare is tuned in for your words of praise :0)
DeleteGreat figures and table, you did Warfare miniatures proud with those beautifully painted minis!
ReplyDeleteCheers Chris, good minis gives for good painting - and it's been a nice experience for us as a club to work with a figure manufacturer. Something we might very well do again in the future.
DeleteExellent pictures Matey! Your pro camera did indeed take much better pictures them ny iPhone !
ReplyDeleteThank you very much for a Greate Journey!
I should be thanking you for whipping together all the troop data on such short notice. An all together nice weekend - makes me want to consider doing GothCon next year...
DeleteBeautiful pictures of a great display. Do I remember correctly or isnt that grenadier picture from Göte Göransson's Karoliner book. Very suitable to have next to such an inspiring game.
ReplyDelete/Mattias
Thanks Mattias - and yes, you nailed that book. We also brought the Osprey volume, and had some good talks with history interested visitors. See you for lunch on thursday, I'll be sure to bring the Russian bits we discussed!
DeleteDo you do participation games or demo games at conventions in Sweden?
ReplyDeleteThat is a first rate looking game.
Thank you very much for saying so, a rewarding comment after the work and time put into it - and yes, we've been doing participation games so far in Denmark and Sweden with ca. 4-5 players at the table, incl. 2 game masters from our club. That format has worked really well. We have found people to be very careful and considerate, so we've had no damage to the painted minis at all. However, as we also handled the shop and you always have history interested people who get inspired and want to chat (which is nice), its been working really well for us to be at least 3 staff present at the table/shop.
DeleteTruly a stunning table!! Beautiful clear photography as well.
ReplyDeleteChristopher
Cheers Christopher - you made my now 10 years old Canon Eos D40 very happy :0)
DeleteThat's an amazing looking table, filled with great looking troops – no wonder you had lots of visitors!
ReplyDeleteThanks Jonas, if you look close you can see that I finally got around to updating the river (Like we talked about ages ago). Jesper and I have a GNW themed campaign coming up after summer, which only need participants one infantry unit painted up to participate. Something to think about :0)
DeleteThat was an amazing table! Love these fantastic pictures...
ReplyDeleteThanks Phil, appreciate it!
DeleteThank you so much for the pictures and the write up! I hope it was fun and that a lot of people stopped by. I hope my troops helped to make the demo game successful!
ReplyDeleteThey sure did, and thanks for painting them up for the event enabling us to field the complete 3 battalions of the Guard that historically made the flanking charge with the king. Soon I'll be able to update you on a coming GNW campaign event at the club, that Jesper and I are working on!
DeleteWhat a ridiculously colourful period of history! Looks fantastic! Very beautifully painted :)
ReplyDeleteExcellent game and lovely figures, Soren. The only GNW game I've seen so far, at least in 28mm.
ReplyDeleteWhat a marvellous looking table! Just great.
ReplyDeleteВеликолепная игра! Распознал Лефортов полк в красных кафтанах и зеленым прибором. Очень исторично!
